Diversity and Inclusion Using Content with Discover Boating

Client Spotlight

Seeking new ways to connect with your audience on social media? When celebrating commemorative moments, staying authentic to your brand and company’s values is important.  Learn a lesson on content strategy from our client, Discover Boating.

When Discover Boating reached out to Layla Nielsen & Co, they sought to diversify their seasonal Content. We highlighted black nautical figures as part of the “Celebrating the African-American Pioneers and Trailblazers on the Great Seas” Campaign for Black History Month. Every week, for Women’s History Month, we showcased communities of women who spend time on the water with the “Celebrating Communities that Empower Women to Jump in” Campaign. Intentional Content offers Discover Boating an excellent opportunity to give its followers an inclusive glimpse of people’s lives worldwide and the many.

The Power of Content

That is the power of Content! When describing Content, it might be seen as nebulous and all-encompassing. In its simplest form, Content is giving information. For Content to have the most impact, there needs to be intention and planning behind it. This is when a content strategy comes into play. New business owners might assume a content strategy is excellent but unnecessary early on.

Content Strategy is the backbone of your social media marketing plans. It helps define your marketing goals and set the foundation for your social media efforts. For business owners, this can take the form of a written document that covers:

  • Why are we creating this content?
  • Who is the audience for it?
  • Where and when will you publish the content?
  • What kind of content should be created?
  • Who is creating this content?

How to Make Your Content Work for You

Content marketing is one of the most influential and widespread marketing strategies. The right Content helps you attract, engage, and delight your audience. To produce valuable Content that builds trust, starting with a solid strategy is the first step. For Content to be beneficial, it has to inform, entertain, or help people solve a problem. If you’re wondering where to get started, try these three steps.

  1. Adjust your strategy.

Your content strategy is a guide that should be updated and optimized regularly. Take time to review your previous strategy and use what worked and what didn’t work to inform your new strategy to match your audience’s ever-changing interests and issues.

  1. Experiment with new Content

Shake it up! Treating your content strategy as an ongoing experiment could lead to more engagement, followers, and conversations. The only way to know what your audience reacts to is to test out different content formats.

  1. Repurpose your old Content

Old Content can be recycled! Consider giving the Content a new story. What angles or approaches you can take, how to support the story, and what value the audience will take away from the post. You can even use a new format. If it was previously a graphic, consider recreating the Content in an audio-visual form.

Creating Content is a fantastic opportunity to connect with your audience, discover new ways to interact with followers, and redefine your brand as an engaging community. But it can be tedious and frustrating when new ideas are not forming at a pace you’re happy with or when your engagement seems stagnant. Layla Nielsen & Co can help put your content back on track with ideas, strategies, calendars, engagement and more to give your social presence the refresh it needs. Let’s talk and get started on reintroducing your brand today.
